What you see here is the first image ever uploaded to the World Wide Web. It’s a graphic featuring a promo shot for comedy band Les Horribles Cernettes, and was uploaded almost exactly 20 years ago by Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web. Motherboard has the interesting story behind the photo: (via This is the First Photo Ever Uploaded to the Web)
Wikipedia writes that Les Horribles Cernettes
is an all-female parody pop group, self-labelled “the one and only High Energy Rock Band”, founded by employees of CERN which performs at CERN and other HEP related events. Their musical style is often described as doo-wop. The initials of their name, LHC, are the same as those of the Large Hadron Collider which was later built at CERN. Their humorous songs are freely available on their website.
I must remember that the image was released with a fair use license, so I think that it is important share also the official site of the Les Horribles Cernettes.
